CT had the chance to sit down with representatives of CATO (Canadian Association of Tour Operators), as the organization welcomes a new chair (Tim Croyle, WestJet Vacations) and Brett Walker (Collette).
In the past, CATO has flown relatively under the radar, despite being involved in significant discussions that impact the industry and consumers as a whole.

So, what are the top takeaways?
1. We'll be seeing a lot more of and hearing a lot more from CATO.
2. The organization continues to work with ACTA, TICO and other industry bodies.
3. Major focuses for CATO at the moment are: the review and changes to the Ontario Travel Industry Act and Regulations; co-operation with IATA and ACTA in developing credit card fraud prevention through the Canadian Travel Fraud Prevention Group, and FraudChasers, a global online fraud information-sharing platform; and facilitating discussions on weather and health concerns impacting the industry and coordinating with relevant government agencies and foreign governments.
